Perspective: Overcoming Giants

Theme: We all face “giants” in life – we all face difficulties that come our way – but the way we perceive them (as well as how we respond to them) can make all the difference in whether or not we conquer them or they conquer us. In this week’s message, we are taking a look at the Old Testament character: Joshua. Joshua was the apprentice to Moses, and would become the next leader of the Israelite people after they entered into the Promised Land. However, his story isn’t so “cut and dried.” It would take 40 years of wilderness wanderings before Joshua would ever see the land that God had promised them, and the many generations of Israelites before them. “Why?” you might ask. Well, it’s all about PERSPECTIVE. This week, we are asking 5 crucial questions: 1) Do we have faith and confidence in God like Joshua and Caleb did? 2) Is the land God has called us to ripe for harvest? 3) What giants exist in the land God has called us? 4) Is there rebellion in the community of Faith? 5) Are we wandering in the wilderness? The answer to these questions and more must be seen through the lens of Paul’s words in Romans 8:31, “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”
