The Shepherds: Mary's Dream Impacts the World

December 24, 2017 - PM Service
Pastor Brandon Lenhart
Scripture: Luke 2:8-20
Key Point: Shepherds seem a most unlikely character to highlight within the context of the story of Jesus’ Birth – that is, until you understand the significance and role the shepherds played within the history of Judaism. Predominantly, the key factor for Luke to include the shepherds in the heralding of the story of the birth of Christ was for the purpose of breaking down the barriers that had kept all people from God. The shepherds are included in the story as a representation that God’s love is for all people, not just a select group. This Christmas Eve we’ll learn that: “Jesus’ birth represents who God loves: all people.”
